Full description and objectives

Inspired by Adra vision, and to answer our three main questions, we will have three pillars guiding the schedule of the workshop:

1. Solving Challenges: Successful Use Cases of AI in Science

We will discuss some cases where AI has actually delivered in scientific research: cases where using AI, data-intensive methods, or robotic systems, new and verifiable scientific advances were made. We expect contributions from different areas such as protein structure prediction, climate modelling, drug discovery, precision agriculture, and materials design, among others.

2. Unifying Voices: Building the AI4Science Community within ADRA

A major outcome of this workshop is also relational by exploring connections and challenges we face in the area by creating a space for participants to map their shared interests around the topic of AI in Science. We also expect to make cross-project and cross-sector future collaborations possible.

3. Shaping Innovation — Reshaping Science with ADRA Technologies

The final pillar looks forward to how ADRA technologies can be positioned not only to support science but also to reshape how science can impact innovation. This session will explore strategic opportunities, including the role of foundation models for science, open infrastructure, and new models of research.

The workshop organisers will actively engage the new projects funded under the RAISE programme that are developing foundation models for science: GenMat (foundation models in materials science), Evelyn (in environmental pollution), AgriScience (agricultural sciences), and EarthGenerator (for Earth system modelling). These projects represent a significant and timely investment in AI for scientific domains, and their participation will ensure the workshop is grounded in frontier work.

This workshop will focus on the roles that AI, data, and robotics can take and be integrated to strengthen Europe's sovereign capacity in accelerated scientific discovery. This session will explore how AI, Data and Robotics will change the world of science and scientific discoveries and draw lessons from the speakers and delegates. Science plays a key role in the future of EU industries, and by inviting both academia and industry to this session, we will discuss cases of successful academia-industry collaborations, concerning the use of AI in scientific discoveries which lead to products and industrial impact.
