Full description and objectives
How can experience gained through EU-funded research and innovation projects help shape the future of AI, data and robotics in Europe? This interactive session aims to foster an open dialogue between policy makers and the research and innovation community, using insights and lessons from ongoing and completed projects to identify gaps, challenges and areas for improvement in the European research and innovation landscape.
The session will begin with a panel discussion featuring representatives from the European Commission (EC), the AI, Data and Robotics Association (ADRA) and the Strategic Research, Innovation and Deployment Agenda (SRIDA). The initial discussion will address key technological and research challenges, gaps and overlaps in current thematic priorities, emerging trends and the role of EU-funded research in addressing Europe's strategic needs. It will also explore how EU funding instruments and procedures could be improved, including in the context of the next Multiannual Financial Framework, and how to better support research excellence and the longer-term impact of project results.
The discussion will then open to the audience, inviting project representatives and other stakeholders to share their experiences, raise challenges and contribute with their perspectives. This exchange will provide an opportunity to reflect on what is currently missing, what could be improved and what lessons from project implementation should inform future policy discussions.
By bringing together different perspectives and encouraging active audience participation, the session aims to turn practical experience from EU-funded projects into constructive feedback for policy makers and contribute to a shared understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing Europe's AI, data and robotics ecosystem.
