Full description and objectives

This roundtable brings together a multidisciplinary panel of experts to debate the theoretical framework and design principles needed to integrate automated inspection, flexible manipulation, XR teleoperation, and predictive maintenance in defense environments. The session will open with a short overview of three demonstrators, reserving most of the time for an open discussion:

1. Drone Inspection: Collaborative robotic cell integrating 2D/3D inspection and physical AI for predictive maintenance.

2. Tactical Equipment Maintenance: Bimanual robotic cell for repairing combat equipment.

3. Heavy Field Repair Architecture: Mobile containerized repair unit combining a heavy duty robot with an AGV satellite for structural interventions.

Tentative participants: Moderated by Ignacio Calleja (international innovation projects), the event features a multidisciplinary panel of experts from the ROCCA network providing a 360-degree view of the ecosystem bridging technical research, practical automation, and strategic deployment:

  • Selene Corbí (AIJU): Strategic innovation & tech transfer.

  • Mahmoud Abbasi (AIR Institute): AI & machine learning.

  • María Dolores Fabregat (INESCOP): Robotics & automation.

  • Irene Sasot (AITIIP): Corporate & R&D project communication.

  • Dr. Jairo Sánchez (VICOMTECH): Computer vision & robotics.

The panel is fully open to discussing the audience’s specific operational challenges. Attendees are encouraged to bring real‑world scenarios to explore tailored solutions directly with the experts.

Why you want to join?

Our proposal explores the methodological approach to integrating Advanced Robotics and Artificial Intelligence to solve critical maintenance challenges. Instead of a traditional presentation, this session is designed as an open panel to foster a collaborative debate on architectural design, multimodal perception, and multi-agent autonomy. By discussing these conceptual elements openly, we directly align with ADRForum's goals of achieving operational autonomy and actively brainstorming with the audience to foster dual-use technology transfer across both defense and civil sectors.
