Full description and objectives

Manufacturing-as-a-Service (MaaS) is fundamentally reshaping the European industrial landscape, driving the "Twin Transition" toward a more resilient, digitalized, and sustainable economy. At the core of this transformation is the integration of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, and Robotics (ADR). This workshop session will showcase the collective impact of the EuroMaaS Horizon Europe Sister Projects—REED, MaaSAI, MEDUSA, UniMaaS, Lasers4MaaS, and MASTT2040—and demonstrate their profound relevance to the AI, Data and Robotics Association (ADRA) ecosystem.

By pooling their expertise, these projects are developing next-generation platforms that leverage cutting-edge ADR technologies:

AI-Driven Orchestration: Automated scheduling, predictive maintenance, and resource optimization (e.g., UniMaaS, MaaSAI).

Advanced Processing: "Laser-as-a-Service" with dynamic beam shaping and smart robotics integration (Lasers4MaaS).

Secure Data Spaces: Decentralized data exchange frameworks and sovereign cloud architectures (MEDUSA, REED).

Strategic Foresight: Long-term roadmaps for the EU’s manufacturing landscape up to 2040 (MASTT2040).

However, to maximize market uptake and ensure seamless cross-border interoperability across European data spaces, these technological breakthroughs must be translated into actionable, consensus-based standards. The second half of the session will focus on the exploitation of the standardization potential derived from these project results. It will explore how the EuroMaaS cluster is actively mapping its innovations to formal standardization tracks—such as CEN/CENELEC JTC 21 (AI), JTC 20 (MaaS), and ISO/IEC frameworks. The discussion will highlight strategies for developing CEN Workshop Agreements (CWAs), reference architectures, and interoperable data models that align with the ADRA Strategic Research, Innovation and Deployment Agenda (SRIDA).

Why you want to join?

The proposed workshop session on "Manufacturing-as-a-Service. Powering Europe's next Industrial model and Standardization Pathways in the EuroMaaS Projects Cluster" directly addresses multiple core themes of the ADRA Forum, creating strong synergies with the association's strategic objectives. Below is a detailed elaboration of these connections:

1. AI, Data and Robotics Technologies for Industrial Transformation: Advancing cutting-edge ADR technologies and their deployment across European industries.

Session Alignment:

The EuroMaaS sister projects (REED, MaaSAI, MEDUSA, UniMaaS, Lasers4MaaS, MASTT2040) collectively showcase state-of-the-art ADR applications in manufacturing:

AI-driven scheduling and orchestration (UniMaaS, MaaSAI)

Big Data analytics and decentralized data spaces (MEDUSA, REED)

Robotics integration for advanced manufacturing processes (Lasers4MaaS)

Digital twins and predictive maintenance (across multiple projects)

The session demonstrates how these technologies enable Manufacturing-as-a-Service (MaaS) models, directly supporting ADRA's mission to accelerate ADR adoption in industrial ecosystems

2. Standardization and Interoperability. Promoting harmonized European standards to ensure interoperability, market scalability, and regulatory compliance of ADR systems.By mapping project innovations to standardization tracks (CEN/CENELEC JTC 21 for AI, JTC 20 for MaaS, ISO/IEC frameworks), the session directly contributes to ADRA's goal of creating a coherent European standardization landscape for ADR technologies.
