Digital Twins are moving from conceptual models to operational tools capable of connecting physical assets, industrial data, simulation, AI and robotics. This workshop will examine how Digital Twins can support the deployment of AI-driven, data-centric and robotic systems in real industrial environments, with a particular focus on manufacturing, mobility, automation, maintenance and smart infrastructures.
The session will combine short expert contributions with an interactive discussion to address key questions: What makes a Digital Twin operationally useful? Which data architectures and interoperability frameworks are required? How can AI and simulation work together? What role can Digital Twins play in robotics, predictive maintenance, process optimisation and human-centred automation?
The objectives are to identify high-impact use cases, discuss technical and organisational barriers, map standardisation and data-sharing needs, and define opportunities for collaboration within the ADRA community. The workshop aims to generate practical insights for researchers, technology providers, industrial adopters and policy stakeholders interested in accelerating the real-world deployment of Digital Twin technologies.

The session relates to AI by exploring how machine learning, generative AI and optimisation algorithms can be embedded into Digital Twin environments to support predictive maintenance, process optimisation, quality control and scenario planning. It relates to Data by focusing on the need for trusted, interoperable and contextualised industrial data spaces as the foundation for scalable Digital Twin deployments.
The workshop will also connect with robotics and automation use cases, showing how Digital Twins can support commissioning, monitoring, human-machine interaction and adaptive production systems. By bringing together research, industry and technology providers, the session will help identify deployment barriers, standardisation needs and future collaborative opportunities within the European ADR ecosystem.
