Full description and objectives

This workshop aims to bridge the existing gap between Horizon Europe (HEP) and Digital Europe (DEP) programme initiatives in the implementation of Data for AI pipelines along the Industrial edge-to-cloud continuum. While on the DEP side Data Spaces, AI Testing and Experimentation Facilities and AI Factories have recently created a powerful and sovereign pan-EU infrastructure for innovative Physical AI applications in manufacturing and robotics. On the HEP side several dozens of small-scale initiatives have so far developed very advanced and sophisticated trustworthy Data Products and AI Models involving hundreds of Innovators and industrial SMEs.

To place AI at the core of our factories and manufacturing engineering platforms, these initiatives need to be aligned and reconciled so they can seamlessly and effectively serve the needs and requirements from the manufacturing sector.

In the Cluster7 HEP Workprogramme, the EC finally launched one Flagship Topic in Digital Emerging destination and sponsored by both ADRA and Made in Europe partnership, with the evident aim to bridge the gap above and to finally implement in EU a large-scale “Robust and trustworthy Generative AI for Robotics and industrial automation” founded on sovereign EU Data and AI infrastructure and involving pan-EU ecosystems of AI Innovators and Manufacturing SMEs.

Two Research and Innovation Actions have been selected and just started their ambitious and challenging adventure, euroFMX in industrial automation and GRAIL in Robotics.

The workshop will present approaches and initiatives that need to be bridged, streamlined and optimised to build a next generation of industrial operating systems, unlocking true human-centric autonomy across machinery, production processes, and the entire supply chain.
