Prof. Mayorkinos Papaelias

Professor Mayorkinos Papaelias holds the chair of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Condition Monitoring at the School of Metallurgy and Materials, University of Birmingham, where he leads the NDT and Condition Monitoring Research Group. He has extensive experience in the development and application of advanced NDT and condition monitoring technologies, particularly within the renewable energy, transport, and autonomous marine robotic technologies sectors. He has served as technical coordinator or scientific consultant on numerous European collaborative research projects funded through the FP6, FP7, Horizon 2020 and Europe programmes. His research has also received support from the EPSRC, the National Structural Integrity Research Centre, UK government and industry. He has authored or co-authored more than 210 journal and national and international conference papers in NDT and condition monitoring and has edited seven books. Professor Papaelias is a Member of the International Society for Condition Monitoring (ISCM), where he chairs the Education Committee. He also regularly contributes technical articles to industrial publications.
