Pedro U. Lima received the Licenciatura (1984) and M.Sc (1989) degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), U. Lisbon, and the Ph.D. (1994) in Electrical Engineering from RPI, NY, USA. He is an IST Full Professor, and the President of the Institute for Systems and Robotics (ISR-Lisboa). He is the co-author of two books, and Associate Editor of the Robotics and Autonomous Systems journal. Pedro is very active in scientific robot competitions and has been recently elected President of the RoboCup Federation (starting June 2027). His scientific interests swirl around multi-robot systems, formal models of task plans, namely using discrete-event systems, and machine learning for planning, including reinforcement learning and generative AI.
