Pedro Nuno Teixeira is the Rector of the University of Porto for the mandate 2026-2030. He is Professor of Economics at U.Porto and a former Director of CIPES – Centre of Research in Higher Education Policies (2009-2022). His areas of specialisation are the economics of education and the history of economic thought.
He was Secretary General of CHER - Consortium of Higher Education Researchers (2013-2022), he has also served on the evaluation panels for the IEP/EUA and ENQA, and has been a national expert for DG Education. He is a member of Academia Europaea and a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences of Lisbon.
He has served as a special adviser to the President of Portugal on Higher Education, Science, and Economic Affairs (2016-2022) and was Secretary of State for Higher Education in the Portuguese Government (2022-2024).
