Kristina Knaving

Kristina Knaving is a technical expert in AI at the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PTS), Sweden’s coordinating market surveillance authority under the EU AI Act. She trained as an engineer, holds an MSc in Media Technology and Engineering, and spent a decade building decision-support and data visualisation software before moving into research.

Since 2012, her work has focused on human-computer interaction and decision-support technology, and since 2019 on AI: first on how people use and misunderstand AI systems, then on the ethics of deploying them, and now on how they are tested and supervised.

Her central interest is how societies can make deliberate choices about technology: beginning with the kind of society we want, then developing the methods needed to understand, test and assess whether technologies actually take us in that direction.
