Ignacio Calleja

Ignacio Calleja holds a Bachelor's degree in Organic Chemistry (University of Zaragoza), an M.Sc. in Technology and Environmental Management (University of the Basque Country), an M.Sc. in Environmental Chemistry (University of Edinburgh), and a postgraduate qualification in Technology Management (University of Seville). He began his career in the chemical sector in 1995, moved into environmental research in 1996, and joined the European Commission's JRC/IPTS in 1998, working for six years on industrial pollution and resource-related legislation. From 2005 to 2016 he worked on circular economy, industrial pollution and resource efficiency at Tecnalia Research & Innovation, and from 2016 to 2024 he was Thematic Officer for Circular Economy and Recycling at EIT RawMaterials, leading its Circular Economy strategy and coordinating the Cross-KIC Circular Economy Action. He has chaired the Steering Group of CLC South-EIT RawMaterials and served as president of ENERO. He joined Vicomtech's International Projects Group in May 2024.
