Haris Papageorgiou

Haris Papageorgiou is Research Director and Vice Director of the Institute for Language and Speech Processing (ILSP), ATHENA Research Center (www.athenarc.gr), where he drives cutting-edge research at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, machine and deep learning, knowledge mining and natural language processing. An entrepreneurial scientist as much as a researcher, he has co-founded four spin-off companies in Policy and Business Intelligence and Data/AI Analytics, turning frontier research into real-world impact. He holds a PhD in Computer Science and a BSc in Electrical Engineering, has published more than 140 scientific papers, and has served as scientific officer in over 50 European and national research projects. He also coordinated the Technical Committee and Technical Operations of clarin:el (www.clarin.gr), Greece's national language resources and technologies infrastructure and part of the European CLARIN network, and teaches postgraduate programmes at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Athens University of Economics and Business.
