Francisco Marques da Silva is a Lead AI Specialist at EDP, where he works on the strategy, architecture and governance that let AI move from experimentation into everyday operations across the group. His focus is what it takes to run AI in a critical sector. That means systems assessed by purpose and risk, clear human accountability and control over autonomous agents. It also means understanding the dependencies on data, models, cloud infrastructure and suppliers that shape both resilience and cost. Before joining EDP, Francisco spent sixteen years in Deloitte Portugal’s AI & Data practice. He designed and delivered AI & Data programmes for large enterprises across Europe and North America, from data platforms and large-scale data transformation to AI engineering and multi-agent systems. Earlier in his career he researched agentic, service-oriented architectures using Prolog and OWL-S ontologies, well before agents became mainstream. He holds an MSc in Business Intelligence and a degree in Management and Computer Science from ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon.
