Wolfgang Zorn holds a diploma in micromechatronics and received his PhD in intelligent metal forming from TU Dresden in 2021. For several years his work was focused on quality assurance and quality control in complex manufacturing processes, in the course of which he also led several research groups. More recently, his focus has shifted to the application of generative AI in production technology, and specifically to agentic AI and its use across a range of production-relevant domains. A particular concern of his work is ensuring data sovereignty when such AI systems are deployed in manufacturing environments. Since 2022 he has been head of the business unit "Adaptive Process Chains" at Fraunhofer IWU.
