Carlos Azevedo

Robotics Team Coordinator

IPN HealthProof

With a PhD in Robotics and over a decade of R&D experience, he leads applied research that turns robotics and AI into deployable healthcare technology. The team's flagship work is a robotic tele-ultrasound system that combines remote operation, haptic feedback and advanced connectivity to widen access to specialist diagnostics, and is now evolving towards autonomous robotic ultrasound. He has coordinated EU-funded healthcare projects, including EIT Health TRAINR4U, where the first remote abdominal ultrasound course was delivered. IPN HealthProof carries out R&D in robotics, AI and autonomous agents, alongside the testing and validation of medical devices and regulatory support towards CE and FDA certification. In this workshop, Carlos presents a practical roadmap from teleoperation towards increasing autonomy and, ultimately, general-purpose humanoid solutions, highlighting both technological progress and the validation steps required for responsible deployment.
