Short description: Resource-efficient AI: how to improve the data, labour and energy-efficiency of AI methods and systems
Date: 04.11.2024 | 15.45 - 17.15
Location: Pluto room

Description:

Resource-efficient AI has emerged as a major challenge:

  1. Data scarcity has emerged as a major challenge. In many domains such as engineering design, manufacturing, or healthcare, (labeled) data is quite scarce and expensive.
Privacy and copyright aspects also limit in many applications the access to high-quality data. This raises the need for data-efficient AI.
  2. Data labelling and proper design of AI systems is, despite all tools and automation efforts, still a labour-intensive process. This raises the need for labour-efficient AI.
  3. The increasing energy consumption of AI and data centers raise a challenge for our environmental sustainability. This raises the need for energy-efficient AI.

In this workshop, we will identify and discuss resource-efficient AI methods: how can data, labour-, energy-efficiency be improved - from low-effort ready-to-implement tips&tricks to groundbreaking research."
