Sotiris Makris

Sotiris Makris is Associate Professor at the Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems and Automation (LMS), University of Patras. He has collaborated with European industries to advance manufacturing systems and train engineers and executives in implementing robotic systems and artificial intelligence applications. He leads working groups on Artificial Intelligence in Manufacturing (Generative AI in Manufacturing) and participates in Working groups on AI & Data, Industrial Metaverse, Industrial Robotics, Systems Engineering, and Robotic Perception. He participated in numerous EC funded research projects in collaboration with European industries. He is member of the CIRP, IEEE, IFAC, chair of the European network “Artificial Intelligence in Manufacturing Network”.  He is an Associate Editor for four  high-impact scientific journals: “Robotics and Computer Integrated Manufacturing” (Elsevier), “International Journal of Computer Integrated Manufacturing” (Taylor & Francis), “International Journal of Production Research” (Taylor & Francis) and “Robotics” (MDPI). He has authored more than 200 articles, and he is the author of the book “Cooperating Robots for Flexible Manufacturing” (Springer Cham).
