Geir Lasse Taranger holds a phd in aquaculture and is research director at the Institute of Marine Research with responsibility for aquaculture, environment and technology. Taranger has more than 30 years of experience in aquaculture research with focus on firs welfare, environmental impact, and risk assessment.  Currently, Taranger work manly with advice to the Norwegian government and to industry on solutions for sustainable aquaculture development, including how to use data from industry and new sampling platforms and methods to improve coastal biophysical models including the development of digital twins for aquaculture management and governance.
